Rationale

Co-teaching is an instructional approach that allows all learners to work on age-appropriate curriculum within the classroom setting. With the support of the classroom teacher and the resource teacher, the needs of all students can be met through differentiation, small group and individual instruction. There are many benefits to co-teaching. There is an increased sense of community and belonging in the classroom when all students are included. Students who struggle with learning tend to have increased motivation when they are included in grade-level, purposeful learning. As they begin to experience success within the classroom there is an increase in their own perception about their learning.
